EastWest Modem Driver
The only way you can use it from Linux is to load DOS first and load the modem driver and then do a soft reset and load Linux. I used to have this modem and that is exactly what I did. I actualy load Linux through loadlin and not with LILO (I don't trust programs which tinker with my boot blocks). hope this helps,

The modem is a Phoebe. The documentation for it is sparse. I took a gander at the Phoebe web page at http://www.phoebemicro.com/modems/pci.htm and I dont see ANY of the modems which I would trust to NOT be a winmodem. On the modem itself, there should be some numbers on the largest chip or chips.

Installing Modem On Win NT 4.0 SP4
Also always, always check to see if your hardware is compatable when ever you make such a drastic upgrade and trust me, Win xp is a drastic step up from 98. There were several problems; but the worst was a modem driver that worked fine, on 98, and crashed the XP OS . So, even if I'd HAD a good install,

If the system keep redetecting the same AZT modem, and you trust their techs enough to think it shouldn't be detected as an AZT then go into Device Manager and change the driver through the modem's properties.. if that doesn't work you'll have to see what files comprise the driver and hunt down those files on the

F***ING TMNET!!!
This modem driver is not the newest but it is one of the best for my card and I connect a solid 52.0 almost all the time on this 56K modem. So my question is: Is there any method that can make that modem operative under Linux? Perhaps a generic driver or any other thing? (Don't think so, but I thought I might ask.) You could take a look here: http://www.linux-usb.org/ - maybe you'll find something useful. I'd never trust the manufactor's timeschedule

WAVE IN/WAVE OUT
Trouble is XP refuses to update with this driver, it says my current one is newer. However shut down and boot up problems persist, and I am nearly 100% confident the HAM driver is to blame. Should I uninstall the driver I have and install the intel one? Or trust windows to choose the best driver?

... The only regular glitch for me is ca. every tenth time of disconnecting DUN, the system crashes to a black screen, which I attribute to the Zoom modem driver. If they didn't get it right when shipping it as solid, pay-for-this code, why should I trust subsequent kludges? I am pleased to recommend ME.

Select the appropriate modem driver. Specify the COM port that the modem is on. 6. At this point Windows will detect a "Wave Audio Device" and ask you to specify a driver. I didn't use Plug N Play functionality, since IMHO I don't really trust my BIOS or Win95 to autoconfigure PnP devices for me yet.

ARRRRGHHHHH!!!!!
Your modem driver just created a "virtual" serial port, so that you can use it as if you had a serial modem with any modem application. When you add an internal modem it automatically includes another com port. Why complain if it works? Trust me, you don't want to be in modem hell. <grin>

I think that putting CIS descriptions in a modem manual is of limited value. I never trust the docs and always read the CIS myself from the card if I absolutely have to know what's in there. But why do you care what's in the CIS unless you are implementing card services or a modem driver? And if you are,
